Bisson Transportation
Since 1919

These days, transportation companies come and go. A variety of economic, demographic and other factors position the trucking industry as a mostly low margin way of doing business. It's tempting for anyone with a truck to venture into what looks like a relatively easy way to make a living. After a few years, many realize that there is much more to this business than meets the eye. Consequently, many of the start-ups fail to last beyond a few years.

At the same time, many of the larger and older industry players have found that their sheer size makes it incrementally more challenging to stay flexible in response to customers' ever-increasing demands in service, communication and pricing. This has caused a number of firms that were once household names, to have vanished from the highways. We don't claim to have all the answers, as we also find this industry challenging on a daily basis. However, we feel that our core values, our people, and our overall mix of business, combined with our size and flexibility have enabled Bisson to succeed for the last 86 years. This longevity reflects our commitment to our stakeholders, (customers, owner-operators, employees, vendors and lenders) for the long haul. Deciding to partner with Bisson is an investment in a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship. Bisson is solid, strong, and will be here when you need us.

Geographic Service Area
Since we are based in New England, in the early days Bisson Transportation focused on providing high quality service predominantly in the northeastern United States. As our base of customers grew, in response to the varied needs of each customer, we have learned to be flexible in terms of geographic service area. Today, Bisson Transportation specializes in Truckload Freight and Special Products transportation throughout the Eastern United States, depending on the specific needs of each customer, and each project.

Bisson transports general commodity freight and special products throughout the United States. Bisson Transportation presently operates a fleet of over 55 Contracted Owner Operators and employs over 30 individuals. Our professionals pride themselves in their commitment to customer service and, as a result, delivered over 6300 loads in 2005 achieving better than a 99% on-time pick-up and delivery rate. Also, in 2005, Bisson Transportation logged over 5.3 million miles and continually maintains the highest possible U.S. Department of Transportation safety rating.

Over 99% On-Time Performance
Customers today have little tolerance for late pickups and deliveries. Inventories of product are kept at minimal levels, so their product must be shipped and received when scheduled. Bisson receives awards and hauling bonuses from customers that appreciate the fact that Bisson will be there on time.

This reflects not only the dedication and professionalism of our drivers, but also the exacting, and realistic planning of our dispatchers and managers and, as a result, we delivered over 6300 loads in 2005 achieving better than a 99% on-time pick-up and delivery rate. Also in 2005, Bisson Transportation logged over 5.3 million miles and continually maintains the highest possible U.S. Department of Transportation safety rating.

Highest Possible Federal Safety Rating
Safety in any business is paramount. The transportation industry demands an ever-increasing level of safety, especially in the trucking business. Bisson is strongly committed to meeting or exceeding all federal and local regulations designed to maintain safe operation and protecting our drivers, employees and the general public. Bisson Transportation maintains the highest safety rating available from the federal government. This translates into a more consistent level of high quality service to our customers, and a better working environment for our drivers.

Well-Maintained Equipment
Creating a solid base for success depends on a number of factors; culture, people, systems, standards, and when you're in the transportation business you better have equipment that will get you where you're going. Achieving 99% on-time performance for our customers simply could not happen without good equipment that is ready to go-the-distance. In order to make sure that Bisson equipment is solid and ready, Bisson operates a full service Heavy Duty Truck Center to provide preventative maintenance and repairs for our own units and outside customers. Virtually all of Bisson's trailers average 3 years old or newer.

Air-Ride 53-Foot Equipment
If you want the most value for your transportation dollar, you need to be able to ship as much product as possible on every load. Different products have varying sensitivity levels. Rather than take a chance on trailer size, or possibly risk transporting sensitive items on a hard-riding spring-ride van, Bisson operates air-ride, 53-foot, 102" wide vans for all of our customers.

Nearly Nil Claims Ratio
Great drivers, management excellence and well-maintained equipment are nice. But how does the product look when it gets there? Bisson's current claims ratio .41% (less than 1/2 of 1%).
